Narcotics: narcotics are known to cause constipation. you definitely should be on a bowel regimen: colace twice a day, senna, miralax (polyethylene glycol) daily as needed

Constipation: Opiates can be very constipating. You would benefit from an enema. Enema kits can be found at your local drug store. Follow the directions on the packaging. After the enema you may also benefit from taking over the counter oral laxatives such as Miralax (polyethylene glycol).

Opioid narcoti bowel: U probably have opioid-induced bowel dysfunction causing constipation / ileus. Narcotic medications do this. First, gradually taper down the amount of pain medications u are using. Keep a journal to track the amount. Second, see a doctor about treatment options, including laxatives and bowel stimulants (Senna comes to mind). Worst case: Relistor, (methylnaltrexone) a new injection approved by FDA for this condition.
