Under your eye ?: If the area under your eye is swollen and tender there is a very good chance you have an abscess, and it might be coming from a maxillary posterior tooth. You need to be evaluated ASAP and put on antibiotics. Please call for an appointment.

See a dentist: A tooth abscess won't go away without treatment and the infection may spread to your jaw, cheeks, sinus and to other areas of your head and neck. A dental abscess is a collection of pus that forms in your teeth or gums as a result of a bacterial infection. Dentist will treat a tooth abscess by draining it and getting rid of the infection. Rec. Radiating Face pain: You have the classic signs of an abscess tooth. Get a DDS/DMD to evaluate if a tooth is the culprit. Is so they'll put you on pain meds, antibiotics to give you time to decide to keep the tooth or not. Is this not a tooth then they will refer you to some one to help figure out what is wrong.

Dangerous infection: You need to see an dentist or oral surgeon ASAP. While most dental infections stay confined to the area around the tooth, some, especially in the upper jaw, can spread to the eye area and even to the brain. A dental infection that causes swelling in the eye area requires immediate treatment. If you can not get to a dentist or oral surgeon then go to the hospital emergency room. DO NOT PUT IT OFF!
