Triptans: Some of the Triptan medications are marketed for catamenial migraine. Excedrin unfortunately is the number one cause of refractory rebound headache seen in my headache clinic. Triptan medications must not be taken if there is a history of complicated or basilar migraine. Headache specialists ( usually neurologists often with additional training typically) see refractory headache patients.
