ALS: ALS commonly presents with progressive muscular weakness and atrophy, along with neurologic signs such as hyperreflexia. However, a neurologist is fully trained to look for this diagnosis.

Thoughts: Yes, hyper-reflexia is associated, but in your case, you may well have this sign due to anxiety, and stress due to worry. 90% of all ALS cases are sporadic, not genetic, and unlikely that you will be afflicted.
