Years : There have been some some new medications that have been developed to slow the disease process but researchers still are unclear what the genetic basis for the disease is. As such the possibility for a cure islikely years away. Sorry.

Sorry, we lack cure: ALS is best treated with the sole FDA-approved medication, Riluzole, and this does not affect weakness, only delays tracheostomy. Maybe, there is another explanation for the symptoms, such as Lyme disease, so, further testing, if not previously done, might uncover another approach. But otherwise, most of what occurs in ALS is palliative.
