Urine odors: Smelly urine very often is not due to any pathologic conditions or illness. Certain break down products of foods, like asparagus, cause smelly urine. Stale urine also develops smelly characteristics. Strangely, infected urine may have no smelly characteristics. Normal urine may have crystals and sediments. A urinalysis can be done in your physicians office if you have concerns.
