Doubtful: It's unlikely that just a couple of drinks have that major of an effect on your brain. Some people do just have poor memory. There are specific areas of your brain that deal with memory - immediate, short and long term memory. Should see a neurologist for evaluation, but if determined no organic cause, then you can "exercise" your brain and quite dramatically improve memory function!

Yes: Alcohol can definitely affect brain functions, memory for that reason. The only way to tell if you have a different condition affecting your memory would be to quit alcohol completely for few weeks. That will give a good baseline for your memory.
