Yes and no: yes, it does slow the process of alcohol absorption, but it does nothing to increase its clearance. Safe alcohol consumption in women is no more than 7 standard drinks per week, averaging no more than 1 per day, and never more than 3 drinks on any one occasion. While eating slows the absorption, you will reach the same alcohol level depending on how much you drink. It's NOT safer.
