Why would a doctor not accept someone who is high risk pregnancy?

High risk pregnancy: Perhaps the physician does not feel competent to care for women with high risk pregnancies. Or they may not want to assume the risk in caring for someone with a high risk pregnancy.

Many reasons: The doctor may not be equipped to manage high risk patients. Proficiency in ultrasound, a strong medicine background, fetal monitors, and a staff trained in handling emergencies are usually minimum requirements. It may also be because the doc only delivers at a low-risk facility that isn't set up for preemies or high risk moms or babies. Bottom line, if they won't see you, respect their decision.
