Why can't menstrual blood be used for blood tests instead of finger-prick blood?

Different tissue: The blood in your vessels is what's supplying your tissues and responding right now to what's going on with you. Menstrual tissue contains blood and also a great deal more, largely dead debris. Would you bet your health on a lab test determined from this tissue? I don't think so. Grin and bear the needle stick -- even as a pathologist, I don't enjoy venipunctures but I know the value.
