Zanaflex (tizanidine): There are precautions listed in taking Flexeril if you have heart rhythm disorder and afib. I usually prescribe Zanaflex (tizanidine). However, visit with your doctor to make sure he/she is comfortable you taking this medication.

A fib.: Flexeril should not be used for more than a few days at a time because of potential side effects, withdrawal symptoms. I no longer use it. I prefer agents that are less likely to cause chronic pain, sleep disruption, depression and sedation / cognitive impairment. Norflex (orphenadrine) and Robaxan are better tolerated. A fib needs to be assessed in the setting of cardiac medications / left atrial enlargement.
