Let Rx Dr. Know 1st: In all likelihood, your Dr. should not have a problem with this. The L Theanine is a natural substitute such as Green tea, and may help anxiety and sleep issues as well, and get you off an addicting Benzo at the same time. It is important, for continuity of care to tell your Rx dr. of your wishes though.

You don't want to : Combine Celexa (citalopram) with benzodiazepines. L-theanine has been useful to reduce post traumatic stress disorder, calms the nervous system, and is a useful supplement to relax the whole CNS. So it would be safe for you to try using it versus benzodiapines. Speak to your PCP first about it, so s/he can advise you accordingly.
