Melatonin: You could try melatonin. Start with 1 mg and taper up toward a max of 5 mg a night. It doesn't put you to sleep instantly like benzos do but it can help over time to regulate your sleep cycle.

Talk to your doctor: Fortunately there are several options available. Talk to your doctor about trying something else. Also, its important to remember that good sleep hygiene is just as important for getting a good night's rest (sometimes behavioral changes can be enough to make sleep aides unnecessary). Be sure to avoid taking OTC "sleep aids" as they often contain benadryl (diphenhydramine) which can worsen your daytime symptoms.
