Possibly: The Mirena (levonorgestrel) IUD is good for 6 years and the copper for 10. The Mirena (levonorgestrel) has some progesterone hormone in it which helps to prevent heavy periods. It's possible you have the Mirena (levonorgestrel) and the hormone has worn out. See your Doctor and have replaced. Hope that helps!
