Possibilities...: You may be having bronchospasm which can lead to shortness of breath, cough, wheezing, etc. The cough can lead to musculoskeletal chest discomfort as well as hoarseness. The bronchospasm can be due to post-nasal drip, GERD, asthma, etc. and these disorders can be worse at night, especially in supine position. See your doctor since there is treatment for all of these issues. Quit smoking ASAP!
