A member asked:

I went to the doctor about my bloated, gassy stomach, and he prescribed ranitidine and told me not to drink any soda or juice. what does this signify?

A good start: Without an actual examination, I cannot give specific medical advice on your particular health, and.... most bloating is due to gut mobility problems that are NOT associated with anything being broken. Very UN likely to show up on scans/scoping. Therefore, doctors would try various things on gut function and see what works. Changes in amount of fiber, changes in timing of meals are other measures.

Dyspepsia : Sounds like your doctor is treating you for excess acid in your stomach (dyspepsia). Give the ranitidine at least 2-3weeks to see if it's going to work. You could also start taking a probiotic or eating yogurt daily
