Tooth abcess: Most ERs do not have dentists. It is better to see a dentist when you have an abcessed tooth because the ER can only treat the infection with antibiotics nd not the tooth itself. They will refer you to a dentist for treatment. Go to the ER if your face is very swollen and you cannot breathe and this is a life threatening situation, otherwise see a dentist.

"emergency dentist" : Visit an "emergency dentist" for a temporary treatment, antibiotics or painkillers prescription. They help people 24/7/365. You can use OTC NSAIDs for pain management and to reduce inflammation. For the "emergency dentist" near you call 1-800-dentist. Take care.
