It's probably OK: Feeling a mild sense of dissociation after meditating is probably ok. It's not surprising that this deep sense of relaxation would feel so different & maybe even unreal if you are constantly under stress. It may be helpful to have an instructor guide you through meditation or at least help you make sense of things at first. Ultimately, what you're doing is very good for your health. All the best!

Probably harmless: There are a great many systems of meditation, anecdotal accounts of subjective benefits (and serious mental health risks for some), and in spite of what a militant may tell you, almost no real science. See what it's doing to you as a person. If (& only if) it helps you focus less on the "little stuff" and prepares you to be kinder to and more at peace with those around you, it's a good thing.
