What's the issue?: If someone told you that an epidermoid cyst must have an opening to the outside, that person is sadly mistaken. Epidermoid cysts are well-known to occur in the thyroid. They merely duplicate the normal epidermis of the skin. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17230574
