Most disc issues are: Treated without surgery with 10% needing surgery. Most respond to time with 12 weeks of non op care which can include. Physical therapy, medication, epidural steroid injections, activity modifications as well as life style changes of not smoking, regular exercise and weight control. If still symptomatic with leg pain more than back pain, a disectomy can be considered.
