Abscess: If there is an abscess then the antibiotics might not be effective until the pus is drained. See your dentist ASAP.

Antibiotics: Antibiotics do not "cure" infected teeth. At best they limit the spread of infection and reduce severity, but the tooth has to be treated (root canal or extraction) to affect a cure. If you are not responding to antibiotics and pain killers, call your Dentist for follow-up.

Yes.: It is possible for the toothache to get worse after starting antibiotics if you waited too long to get treatment. Although, you received antibiotics you still need to be seen by a dentist to ensure that you may not need further dental work.

Absolutely: Did your dentist prescribe the antibiotics, or are you self medicating? A tooth that is still vital will not respond to antibiotic therapy, since there is no infection. A tooth that is non-vital and infected and not responding may require alternate care. Please call your dentist at once. Either way the tooth needs immediate attention.

Definitely, yes: normally it is quite difficult for any antibiotic to get to the abscess in an abscessed tooth. The only way to cure a dental abscess is with dental treatment. The treatments are: root canal treatment, tooth extraction and/or in some cases, drainage surgery. The antibiotic is an adjunctive treatment only. See your dentist for an emergency visit. Hope it helps.
