Separation anxiety: is a normal part of child development which starts in infancy with stranger anxiety. It gradually subsides around the age 5 -6 yrs. by the time kids go to school it should be minimal to absent. If it is exaggerated, speak to a psychologist since it could be a sign that something else is happening (abuse or phobias).
