A member asked:

Is sudden on and off stuttering in adulthood, when never occurred in childhood, normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No- not normal: Stuttering at any age is not normal and especially if the person was not doing it before. He should be taken for a full evaluation perhaps with a neurologist that has a special interest in language disorders and then a plan for intervention should be established sooner rather than later.
