A member asked:

What causes a child to start stuttering?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on age: Before five years of age stuttering is commonbut it is not called stuttering it is labled cluttering. Children have so much to say that the words get stuck. It is based on the immaturity of their speech . Be patient because cluttering will go away on its own. Stuttering in the older child is from mustiple cause and needs intervention with a therapist to resolve.
