A member asked:

How long may someone has coronary disease without any treatment? is it possible to have it for some months?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

CAD: Coronary artery disease can take years to progress to enough obstruction to cause symptoms. Through the mechanism of plaque rupture, it can also progress rapidly. It is possible to have CAD without symptoms for a long time. Conversely it is also possible for the first presentation to be a serious acute ischemic event.
