Not useful: Atropine is used in treating low heart rates. It is usually not helpful in cardiac arrest unless the shocked rhythm returns as a bradycardia with loe blood pressure.

Better meds: The current protocols for acls have better results . Atropine still has some effectiveness in specific situations.

Cardiac arrest: Studies have shown that during cardiac arrest Epinephrine works just as well without the routine use of atropine. Atropine should be used when cardiac arrest is secondary to a bradycardic arrest.
