A member asked:

Is pcn the most successful treatment for stones located in the diverticula? i've also read about rirs & laparoscopy. how long must the drain tube stay

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: The "stones" don't need any treatment. If the pouches that contain the calcified stool (stones), become inflamed, they usually require a more broad spectrum antibiotic than penicillin. If an abscess develops, may need drainage. For free rupture, need emergent laparoscopic wash out and drainage, and on occasion a resection and temporary ostomy.
