Nail injury: That is probably dried blood, under the nail. It should go awaw as the nail grows back.

Yes: Injuries to the fingernail are very painful due to the large number of nerve endings in our finger tips. Hands also have a good blood supply and tend to bleed at lot. If spot does not go away within one month, then it should be looked at.
