Often silent: Gum disease is often silent and you need to see your dentist regularly. Bleeding gums, receding gum line and bad breath are some of the manifestations of gum disease.

See a dentist: Swelling, pain and sometimes bleeding from your gums are signs of "gingivitis".

Bleeding: If you notice blood after brushing your teeth on a regular basis, then you likely have gum disease. If untreated, you may end up losing your teeth. It is best to prevent it by daily flossing, brushing with a soft brush for at least a minute twice daily, and mouthwash. You will need to have the teeth cleaned by a dental hygienist at least twice yearly. Prevention is better than cure.

Gum disease: Not only preventable but treatable too, with great success rate if caught early. Bleeding is the first sign that something is wrong. it usually is caused from improper homecare, without regular dental visits. you first need to see your dentist to ascertain that state of your gums and bone and the appropriate treatment plan. Then be regular with follow up. Ignore your teeth and they will go away!

Examination: Pain, bleeding, swelling, together or separately are indications that you have moderate to severe gum infection. Very early gum disease is "silent", but usually observable at routine dental examination. Have exam and professional cleaning. Ask Dentist/Hygienist for Oral Hygiene instruction. Follow instructions fully (for example, you MUST floss daily). Go for regular check-ups.

Signs of gum disease: The signs of gum disease are subtle. Especially in the earliest stages, you might not even notice it, which is one of the reasons that regular checkups are so important. As the disease progresses, you gums may begin to bleed when you brush or they may look puffy and unnaturally red. Symptoms such as pain, abscesses, and loose (or falling out) teeth develop as the disease becomes more severe.
