If healthy, then...: Eat more healthy calories (snacks and meals) to gain weight. Choosing foods with protein and "good" fats and oils. Avoid excess amounts of simple starches and sugars. To increase muscle mass, one has to work out against resistance (with weights). This exercise will increase daily calorie needs, so one must eat more of the healthy, balanced diet he should already be on.

Lucky You: Most people want to loose weight. If i wanted to gain weight and not just fat (easy to put on hard to loose) i would eat more good food (no junk) and exercise just a little. Try to determine how many calories you are taking in, what your current activity level is then eat more good calories and cut the exercise back. If not exercising now just increase calories and walk a little.

If you eat: More calories than you burn off, you will gain weight, it's 3500 calories to the pound. There are no magic foods. You need to exercise on a regular basis to make sure the weight doesn't become fat. There is no medical entity known as "fast metabolism" except in people with an overactive thyroid, .

In the absence: Of an overactive thyroid, there is no such thing as "fast" metabolism. People do burn off calories at different rates, but it is primarily related to body size, activity level, etc. You will gain one pound for each 3500 calories that you eat and don't burn off, but if you do not exercise, it will be stored as fat rather than muscle.
