It's too late: I believe that her exposure has already happened, so it would not help to get the vaccine. If you or your brother's been to a doctor, you might ask there what her best course of action would be. I wish all of you had been vaccinated and that all children were, I hope you all get through it okay. Take care!

If already exposed: to you or your brother it will not help. The vaccine is not recommended for several weeks post exposure.

Vaccine use: Most adults who don't remember having chickenpox as kids (96%) have blood evidence that they did.Cpx starts being contagious 1-2 days prior to the rash, so if mom was in the same room with either of you, her 10-21 day incubation began then.The vaccine would do little if any good this late. She might want blood testing to be sure she has immunity. There are some oral meds that help in bad cases.
