Well...: Tough to say. Your surgeon would know your case best of course, so be sure to call them with your concerns. In general, because a person needs to eat/drink, they will always have some constant "friction" against the surgical site that is trying to heal, so any oral surgery can take long to heal. Not really: post tonsillectomy patients just begin to experience improvement after a week, especially if one is an adult. It is the time that the scabs start to fall off; it is also the time when most postoperative bleeding occurs. Be patient, stay with liquids, and don't strain yourself, and the symptoms will begin to resolve.
