About

Bio

My specialty is Ear, Nose and Throat, Head and Neck Surgery, Pediatric Otolaryngology, and Allergy. I have been in solo practice in Sleepy Hollow NY since 1978, and recently affiliated with ENT Faculty Practice in Ardsley NY. I still maintain my office, and am there exclusively. I did my training at Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital in Manhattan. I see patients from infancy to Seniors, and accept virtually all insurance plans. My affiliation is with Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow NY as a senior attending surgeon

Probably bacterial: lake water is not too clean, and ear / mucous membrane infections are common.

Most probably normal: tonsils develop crypts in response to infectious challenge. One tonsil may have reacted more than the other in that role. OR that one tonsil was infected more than the other in the past, and now has more crypts. I would be more concerned if one tonsil was larger than the other.
A 24-year-old female asked:

Not really: post tonsillectomy patients just begin to experience improvement after a week, especially if one is an adult. It is the time that the scabs start to fall off; it is also the time when most postoperative bleeding occurs. Be patient, stay with liquids, and don't strain yourself, and the symptoms will begin to resolve.
