Acute chest syndrome: You may be early in developing acute chest syndrome, which is basically a sickle cell crisis in your chest. This can be a devastating complication of sickle cell disease,and you should call your hematologist immediately. Most times, hospital admission is needed along with transfusion, IV antibiotics and pain meds. S0metimes fluid can build up in lungs (pulmonary edema) so this has to be monitored
