A member asked:

Lump-in-throat feeling and lower oesoph. discomfort after eating a hot meal 2 fast. can food go down the wrong pipe to the lungs without you knowing?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Lump in throat: No. Food in the trachea would cause immediate, severe coughing. Far more dramatic than a lump in the throat. You are mauch more likely to have some issue with you esophagus/stomach. Eat slowly, try some pepto bismol (bismuth subsalicylate) for discomfort. See you primary care doc for an evaluation.(PS if you are taking a lot of ibuprofen, that might be the culprit.)
