Possibly: It is possible that sinus congestion can compromise someone respiratory(breathing) status. This entails that secretions from the sinuses are "dripping" backwards into the throat and down into the lungs. Alternatively, if your friends sinus issues are allergy related, those same allergies can affect the lungs. It sounds like your friends needs to see his/her doctor. Best of luck.
