Meds safer than TB: When in doubt, treat. INH for treatment of latent TB is safer than taking chances with TB which can be fatal. Active TB in young children is usually more complicated than adults, so all the more reason to treat if in doubt. There are newer blood tests for TB that can be helpful. Get a consult with an infectious disease specialist if needed.
