Back pain: ...In the kidney area could be a thoracic back issue (sprain or strain for example), or could be a kidney problem, like a kidney stone, or infection, or hydronephorosis/itis, etc. Get eval if it continues.

Difficult to tell: We need more information in order to tell what is going on. That you experience pain in the area where the kidneys are located does not necessarily mean it is a problem with your kidneys. Most of the time this is associated with muscle pain. However, there are other issues with the kidneys that could be causing this. Kidney stones, infections, etc. Try to get seen in order to get formal evaluation
