A member asked:

I had heart test done and all they said they found was a couple leaky valves. they say not to worry. are leaky valves normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Common: "Normal" is probably not quite correct. Common may better reflect the state of many individuals heart valves. With modern high resolution echocardiographic techniques we are visualizing more frequently differing degrees of "leakiness" that were simply not formerly visible. Valve competency, or the ability to fully close, is what's "normal" but is less common than you would think.
