Premolar w/ root canal that needs to be re-done. what is redo procedure like? same as before? are antibiotics given before, after or both? what kind of abx are typically given? allergic to penicillin.

Nothing to worry: Since the nerve of the tooth has been removed already and tooth is non-vital, you won't feel any pain. The only extra step in this procedure is removing old root canal filling. As far as you're concerned, it shouldn't be any different than when you had it done the first time and antibiotics usually are not needed. Good luck.

Similar: Re-treatment of the root canal is similar to the first time except it may take a bit longer to do. You will probably given antibiotics. Clindamycin if you're allergic to penicillin.
