A member asked:

6 wk old, fiancee, me, & ferret rent 1 room. my ferret has fleas. no contact between baby & ferret at all, but fleas spread. how to kill fleas safely?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Flea bites: Fleas live in furniture, carpets, drapes etc. The flea balms that get rid of fleas are toxic to humans, especially babies. I would get rid of the ferret, the source of the fleas and then move out of the apartment and get an exterminator or use flea balm to fumigate the apartment. Consult a pediatrician regarding what products are safe to use with a new baby.
