Shooting Pains: If these pains are just in front of the heel, and worst with the first few steps after sitting for a while, it may be plantar fasciitis. Heel lifts and anti-inflammatory pain relievers such as ibuprofen can help. Burning pain not affected by walking is more typical of neuropathy. Your doctor can help sort this out.

Document: It is extremely difficult, to work out a cause, let alone treat, symptoms the occur "every now and then". You need to make a diary including when the episodes occur and what activity you were doing prior to the symptoms occurring, as well as during the symptoms. This would help narrow down the proximal cause of you problem.
