Can you have a 'clear' chest and have pneumonia? or have a clear chest & a week later have a flu turn into pneumonia?

Yes: The chest X-ray is not 100% accurate. Chest X-ray findings may lag the symptoms by a few days. Also there are some areas of the lung difficult to visualize on the X-ray.
