Diet post partum: Just continue eating a good-quality diet just as you did during pregnancy. If you are not breast-feeding, your nutrient and calorie needs are the same as they were before you became pregnant. If you are breast-feeding, or if you are anemic or recovering from a cesarean delivery, you require special nutritional management.

Eat anything!: Unless you have a C-section, you can eat absolutely anything you want after giving birth. It's a great opportunity to send the new dad or grandparents to your favorite restaurant for takeout! If you have a C-section, they will start you just on clear liquids after the surgery until bowel sounds return. For breastfeeding, get plenty of fluids, extra protein and calcium, and 1000-1500 extra calories
