Kidney stone: Kidney stones can cause stabbing pains in the flanks, usually just on one side. If you are having significant bowel issues such as diarrhea then it is possible your colon is inflamed. The last possibility is an ovarian cyst or other problem. Regardless, sounds like you should be checked to see what's going on.
