A member asked:

Does extended periods of sitting and bowl movements cause pain with a small spigelian hernia. how would this type of hernia cause back pain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possible: Hernia symptoms typically cause pain at the location of the hernia, a bulge at the same location, and if the intestines are herniated, could cause trouble with the GI tract such as crampy pain or some difficulty with bowel movements. If the bladder is involved, there could be difficulty urinating. Back is usually only caused by large hernias. Best to see a general surgeon for a consultation.
