Maybe: I can't say I have ever seen it happen. Most parents do not do it as often as the kid needs or as vigorously as they need. Since a small kid needs the mucous debris removed to effectively use their nose, it is one of the few treatments that can make a real difference.Cold meds often thicken mucous producing a negative effect.
