Not likely: This happened several days ago. If he had a serious injury like that, I suspect he would have fever, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting by now. And maybe blood from the rectum.

Deadly issue: If that had really happened the leakage of bacteria laden fecal material into the abdomen would have put the kid in an ICU within 24 hrs.I have never seen this happen in over 3 decades of practice.You may be adverse to rectal temps, but before there were magic ear probes and laser readings, this was how babies temps were always taken.
