5-10: You're on a small dose. 50-100 mg is often used. If you combine it with a mild diuretic like HCTZ, (hydrochlorothiazide) you get better results. Taken alone, 25 mg of atenolol isn't going to a have a very potent effect. You could make a case that an ACE-I would be better. Please see: http://circ.ahajournals.org/content/104/14/1582.full
