Other mood disorder: There are other mood disorders which manifest primarily as irritability, agitation or even anger outbursts manifested either through verbal or physical expressions of such emotions, much as one would find in people with bipolar disorder. However, psychologically, when there has been a lot of tension, conflicts, resentments which have not been dealt with by the individual, then anger is what shows.

Defense: Occasionally, anger can serve a patient defensively as a way of concealing a deeper emotion, such as sadness or insecurity. Often, schoolyard bullies who are full of anger and bluster do so to cover feelings of profound insecurity, as many if not most were once bullied themselves.
